Councillor Keith Mans, Executive Lead Member for Children’s Services, commented: “With the substantial reductions in central Government funding, the County Council has had to look very closely at how all of its services operate. We would like to know what people think about some proposed changes being considered for managing Home to School Transport in the coming years; that will bring our services into line with other authorities which now offer only that which is specified in legislation.”
The consultation on proposed changes to the Home to School Transport Service and Post-16 Transport Service runs until Tuesday 13 March 2018. Available online at www.hants.gov.uk/consultations is an information pack which sets out the County Council’s current position for the provision of HtST and explains the possible options for possible changes. Also online is a questionnaire for people to complete and make their views known.
Following the close of the consultation in March, and analysis of the responses, a report on the feedback will be prepared for Councillor Mans to consider in May 2018 - together with any resulting recommendations for changes to the Home to School Transport service which, if agreed, could be effective from 1 September 2018.
