Councillor Keith Mans, Executive Lead Member for Children’s Services at Hampshire County Council, said: “As more parents reap the benefits of the Government’s free 30 hours of early childcare, more opportunities are opening up for childcare careers in nurseries, pre-schools, before and after school clubs, and school holiday clubs. This event is the perfect opportunity for anyone who is considering a career in this specialist area and keen to find out more, as well as those already working in the field, to gather information, ask questions and even apply for current vacancies.”
Taking place in Ashburton Hall, at the County Council headquarters in Winchester, the event will be open from 10am until 3pm.
There will be a wide range of workshops to take part in, on topics such as CV writing and interview techniques, and a ‘live jobs board' on which early years/childcare providers can advertise their current vacancies.
In addition, visitors to the event will be able to talk to pre-school and nursery managers and staff, and County Council early years education specialists, as well as representatives from:
• Southampton Area Men In Early Years
• Job Centre Plus - for advice about Universal Credit, working credits and other benefits
• National Careers Service
• Colleges and Universities offering childcare courses
• Hampshire Futures – for information and advice about Apprenticeships
Members of the public can turn up on the day but to secure a workshop place, they should register their interest in attending the free event and book their workshop preference, online. Further information can be obtained by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
