Hampshire County Council announces major new care contracts

Hampshire County Council has announced a major new partnership deal with five care providers across the county to deliver care and support at home for older people over the next seven years

Nov 2 2018

This latest agreement will grow the County Council’s care at home service to meet the rising demand for support, by increasing the range of providers and is part of the Authority's multi-million pound investment in support at home services.

Through the new contracts, hundreds of new jobs in the care profession could be created, providing a vital boost to the local economy.

Councillor Liz Fairhurst, Hampshire County Council’s Executive Member for Adult Social Care and Health, said: “As our population ages, so we need to support greater numbers of people to continue living as independently as they can, for as long as possible.  Currently we organise, through our care providers, some 45,000 hours of home care each week. As well as the valuable services received from those care companies we already commission, these five new agencies will create additional capacity to ensure we can continue to support those Hampshire residents who need help from us to maintain their independence.”
