Councillor Rob Humby, Deputy Leader of Hampshire County Council and Executive Member for Economy, Transport and Environment, said: “We are working in partnership with East Hampshire District Council and the EM3 Local Enterprise Partnership to support the successful regeneration of Whitehill and Bordon. Following the completion of the new relief road, we are undertaking a number of further transport improvements which will integrate new developments with the existing town and are designed to encourage people to walk and cycle more.”

The package of improvements includes pedestrian and cycling improvements as well as new road crossings and upgraded street lighting. This forms part of the green loop - seven miles of improved footpaths and cycle ways around the town. The new street lighting will be the latest Hampshire County Council specification low- energy lighting with provision for dimming the lights.

Councillor Humby continued: “The Budds Lane improvements form part of the work to encourage more cycling and walking, and will provide access to the Mill Chase Academy which will be moving into its new school buildings on Budds Lane later this year. In time, these improvements will connect to the green loop, which is an upgraded network of cycle and walking routes, thanks to a successful funding bid to the Enterprise M3 Local Enterprise Partnership.”

The night time resurfacing works will take place over three separate nights between 8pm and 6am from the evening of Wednesday 7 August to the morning of Saturday 10 August.Budds Lane at its junction with Camp Road will closed for the works which are being undertaken at night to minimise disruption to daytime traffic, as well as ensuring the safety of road users and the workforce.

During the works, local signed diversions will be in place to re-direct traffic.  The works are weather dependent, and the dates may be subject to change.
