First of its kind mobile app is a one-stop shop to keep people in Hampshire independent, well and connected to their community

Hampshire residents can now download a new mobile app to access information 24/7 to help them to maintain or regain their independence and to manage their own care and support needs

The Connect to Support Hampshire website and app have been developed by Public Consulting Group UK on behalf of Hampshire County Council. They provide an easy-to-use online resource to help residents with their care and wellbeing by providing information about all aspects of independent living, such as advice about mental health and physical health, help and support for carers, and equipment to help people manage at home. The website and app also include:

  • A directory of local services, activities, charities and helplines to support individuals with specific needs
  • A directory of Care Quality Commission-registered home care agencies that can provide personal and nursing care in people’s homes
  • A directory of registered care homes and nursing homes in Hampshire.

The app also allows users to search for information offline. 

Councillor Liz Fairhurst, Executive Member for Adult Social Care and Health, said: “Connect to Support Hampshire is a fantastic one-stop shop for anyone looking for information about care and support in Hampshire, whether they are trying to find a local support group, need help for a specific disability or are looking for care services for themselves or a loved one. 

“The community directory also lets people quickly and easily search for all of the activities and services available within their local area, including not only voluntary organisations and care-related businesses, but also social clubs, community projects and volunteering opportunities, which we know are an essential part of healthy, active communities.

“With the launch of the new Connect to Support Hampshire mobile app, the wealth of care and support information can now be accessed offline without an internet connection, giving Hampshire residents access 24/7.” 

The website and mobile app have been developed with input from Southampton University, a leader in web accessibility, to ensure that Connect to Support Hampshire is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of ability or technology.

In addition to health professionals, such as GPs and nurses, using Connect to Support Hampshire to refer patients to non-medical services in their community to help increase their wellbeing and independence, voluntary organisations can also use the website and app to promote their services as well as connect with new volunteers. 

To download the app, simply search for ‘Connect to Support Hampshire’ in the App Store (for Apple iPhones or iPads) or the Google Play Store (for Android smartphones and tablets).
