Councillor Rob Humby, Executive Member for Environment and Transport at Hampshire County Council, explained: “Each year, councils spend over £100 million dealing with waste produced from Hampshire households. As financial pressures grow for councils, we need to look at all options to reduce volumes of waste in the system to try to bring down this cost.
“There are many aspects to reducing waste, and we’d like to hear from Hampshire residents about food waste and composting. This will help us to better understand the impact of campaigns and information projects to encourage people to reduce food waste and increase composting and how we can work best to support householders to reduce waste.”
As a thank you for taking part in this new survey there is a prize draw opportunity to win £100 worth of Leisure Vouchers. The draw will take place in January 2019 and the winner will be notified by email.
The survey will be open until 10 December 2018.
The results will help inform the County Council’s Smart Living campaign, which began in 2015 to encourage people to make small changes to their lifestyles in order to waste less and save money.
