artSOUTH Walking Tour - Lymington & Keyhaven Nature Reserve - Friday 4th October 2013

Join us for a walking tour taking you from Salterns Sailing Club, Lymington through to Keyhaven Nature Reserve. Walk this beautiful part of Hampshire to see Suzanne M. Winterling’s new artSOUTH commission entitled The Lighthouse of Fragility.

This walking tour explores the history of salt making and the wildlife and habitats of this part of the coast, as well as this beautiful sculpture, parts of which use ‘aerogel’, which gives it a luminous quality both day and night. The artist has collaborated with Lymington-based architect Magnus Ström and Pete Durnell to create this ‘shelter’ that blends into the landscape, providing a place to rest, stop and contemplate. Susanne M Winterling is a German artist who has exhibited internationally including Oslo, Berlin, New York, Moscow and Tokyo.

Your guides will be Pete Durnell, Hampshire County Council Sites Manager for Lymington and Keyhaven Nature Reserve; and Steve Marshall, Art Project Manager.

Starting and ending at Salterns Sailing Club on Maiden Lane, Lymington at 11am until 1pm - Friday 4th October 2013

Please note: places are limited so booking is essential. Some of the walking tour is hard going in places, and may not suitable for children under 10, adults with walking difficulties or those requiring disabled access.
