Jane Austen evening

Jane Austen evening

An event at Hampshire Record Office on Wed 19 July, 6.30pm to 9.00pm, to mark Jane Austen's bicentenary.

Professor Emma Clery, from the University of Southampton, will deliver a talk entitled 'Jane Austen's banker brother and financial scandal in regency England.'

A showcase of original documents concerning Jane and her family will be on display, including Jane's baptism entry. Live regency music will accompany the event, along with canapes and drinks.

Our venue is on the first floor. A lift is available. Since the lift cannot be used in an emergency, evacuation of less able visitors is down the stairs via an evacuation chair to which they must be able to self-transfer, or be accompanied by a carer who can help them transfer. We can cater for up to two such persons (see below).

Please note: tickets will not be issued so please retain your receipt
