Ukulele for Wellbeing at Eastleigh Library

Tuesdays 23rd January to 20th February 2018

10.30am to 12.30am

A fun, friendly and inclusive workshop where you learn how to read and strum a few simple chords to play a song.

  • Hold the ukulele standing or sitting
  • Strum chords to a beat
  • Play the chords for a popular song

This course is aimed at people that have less than a GCSE grade C equivalent qualification or are in receipt of a means tested benefit or have a learning difficultly or disability.

It is also suitable for those that would benefit from undertaking a music workshop to help improve their levels of health and wellbeing.

This course will take place in a friendly group atmosphere and will introduce beginners to basic strumming and chord fingering in order to play popular songs.

The chord fingerings of the ukulele are similar to those used on the guitar but much easier to manage, so this course could also be seen as a step towards playing the guitar.

Prerequisite skills include: ability to use individual fingers.

This workshop could lead to a Ukulele Improvers Workshop, a longer course or membership of a local club.
