10.00am to 2.00pm

This workshop will investigate some of the ways in which the Romano - British population adapted to the influence of the Roman occupation in how they produced their food, what kinds of food was consumed, and how they ate it.

  • Identify the range of food produced and the different kinds of evidence for this
  • Analyse the different social levels through the whole period and how this would influence food consumption
  • Examine several sites from the Wessex area to illustrate specific aspects

This workshop should illuminate some of the ideas of the Roman occupation (from 43 AD to 410 AD) and inspire people to learn more of this period.

There will be a 30 minute lunch break. There is a café on site or please bring your own.

No previous knowledge is required, but an interest in past lives will help.

You will need to bring: Bring notebooks, pencils, pens, and a clear plastic ruler and plenty of enthusiasm!
