Learning in Libraries: Simple Skills That Help Save Lives

Tuesday 17th July 2018

Winchester Discovery Centre

9.30am

To provide the ability for learners to be able to assess an unforeseen medical emergency and respond appropriately.

  1. Demonstrate how to assess an unforeseen medical emergency using the DRSABC criteria.
  2. Show how to place a casualty in the recovery position.
  3. Demonstrate how to deliver high quality CPR to a casualty.

Show how to work together with others to deal logically and effectively with a medical emergency.

This video and practical based presentation is suitable for both complete novices as well as those wishing to refresh their skills in relation to knowing what to do if you should be first on the scene of a medical emergency such as a child choking, a heart attack or serious bleeding. It will demonstrate simply what to do and when but it is not a first aid course as such and there will not be a triangular bandage or sticking plaster in sight!

Previous Knowledge: none required

Attendance is expected at each session to ensure that you get the most out of your learning experience and to minimise disruption for other learners. Please advise the venue/tutor of any absence you may have.
