London’s multi award-winning LGBT+ literary salon comes to Winchester! Featuring Paul Biurston, VG Lee and Karen McLeod aka Barbara Brownskirt!

Founded in 2007 by author Paul Burston, Polari showcases the best in established and emerging LGBT+ literary talent. Based at London’s Southbank Centre, the salon also tours regularly, funded by Arts Council England. Since 2011, Polari has run the Polari Prize for LGBT writing, supported by WH Smith Travel. Tonight’s event is part of the Polari Prize Tour, which takes in 20 towns and cities across the UK.

Paul Burston is the author of six novels including the WH Smith bestseller The Black Path and his latest psychological thriller, The Closer I Get. His journalism has appeared in The Guardian, The Times, Time Out and many other publications. He is the curator and host of award-winning literary salon Polari at London’s Southbank Centre, and founder of The Polari First Book Prize for new LGBT+ writing and The Polari Prize for established writers. Born in York and raised in South Wales, he now divides his time between London and Hastings.
 
VG Lee is the critically-acclaimed author of five novels and two collections of short stories. She was nominated for a Stonewall Award and won the Ultimate Planet Award for Best Established Author. She is also a contributor of humour to The Lady Magazine. Her second short story collection came out earlier this year and is  called ‘Oh You Pretty Thing’.
