Short Break Activities Programme Consultation

Consultation open until

Hampshire County Council is seeking views on proposals for changes to the Short Break Activities Programme which, if agreed, would take effect from April 2021

The consultation has been extended until 12 July 2020.

This is an opportunity for people to inform decisions relating to the provision of Hampshire’s Short Break Activities Programme for children with disabilities.

The proposals have been carefully developed to deliver a programme of Short Break Activities that, subject to approval, would continue to provide short breaks for parents and carers, and fun, educational opportunities for the disabled children and young people that they care for.

Some of the proposals could help Children’s Services to make anticipated annual savings of up to £696,000. Other proposals are intended to improve the effectiveness of the Short Break Activities Programme.

Specialist services provided for children with assessed social care needs are not included in this consultation.

Your feedback matters

No decision will be made on any of these proposals, until people have had the opportunity to give their views. Feedback gathered from the consultation will be included in a report that will be considered by the Executive Lead Member for Children’s Services and Young People.

Drop-in sessions

Owing to the developing Covid-19 situation, Hampshire County Council has cancelled the previously planned drop-in sessions which were to be held at venues around the county.

The two Facebook Live sessions with Hampshire Parent Carer Network on Tuesday 24 March and Tuesday 24 April are also cancelled.

We apologise for the inconvenience cancelling these sessions may cause. However, we confirm that we are looking into the options for re-scheduling some events or increasing the number of opportunities to take part in question and answer sessions that can be conducted online or by telephone.

As soon as we are able to confirm any new dates for these engagement opportunities, we will update this webpage and publicise the information via the County Council’s social media channels.
