Support groups

Support groups operate across Hampshire for foster carers, usually coordinated by a foster carer and family placement staff and often introducing guest speakers to support learning and understanding of a particular issue. Contact your family placement social worker to find out where your local support group is.

Hampshire Fostering Network

All Hampshire foster carers can become members of Hampshire Fostering Network (HFN). They offer additional support, guidance and advice as well as being ‘your voice’ with Hampshire Children’s Services.

FosterTalk – Supporting those who care

FosterTalk is an independent support services provider, specialising in FISS (Fostering Independent Support Service). Hampshire have a contract with FosterTalk to support carers who are facing allegations or concerns. They also offer legal expenses insurance, tax and accountancy for carers, fostering support, counselling, medical and a whole lot more.


FosterLine is Government run helpline for any questions relating to fostering. This service is delivered by FosterTalk on behalf of the Department of Education and is the place to go to get your questions answered.

Dedicated phone line

Foster Carers and Children’s Homes staff can now call a dedicated phone line for advice and guidance on education and other related issues. Callers can leave their name and number and will be called back by a member of the Virtual School team. Messages left before 5pm will be responded to the same day. There is also a shared mailbox for carers preferring to use email. Details are:-
