Policy to promote independence and choice: supporting people positively to manage risk
The objective of this policy is to set out the Department's approach to risk management in the delivery of social care services in a way which promotes choice and control while ensuring vulnerable people are provided with the support they need to help them stay safe. The policy supports the move towards personalised services, including the rollout of Self Directed Support.
The procedure consists of the policy document and guidance for staff in risk assessment and risk management, together with assessment tools to support recording.
This policy rescinds the procedure 22/95 Risk Taking – Older People, and "Risk Assessment & Professional Practice" – interim guidance issued to staff in 2007.
