Medication management policy

The objective of the guidance in this overarching policy is to maintain the health, safety and independence of adult service users by supporting them to take prescribed medication at the correct time and in the correct way as part of a package of care and support. All medication policies are currently being updated to reflect current practice, national and sector guidance. In Hampshire County Council Care Services, all staff that are required to administer medication as part of their role attend the 'Medication Administration' course on initial employment. The staff will then have their competency assessed annually or sooner if extra support is identified as part of their performance.
