Key carers and staff
Our staff at the Aviary Nursery will help you plan your child’s next steps at each stage of development.
Key carers
The key carer is a special member of staff who has the responsibility to work with you to ensure all your child’s needs are met, and to get to know your family well.
Your key carer will carry out observations on what your child enjoys playing with and their learning at nursery. The information they gain and know about your child’s development will be recorded in their learning journey. It will also be part of influencing what happens in the nursery supporting their next steps.
Your child’s learning journey is a record of your child’s experiences and development at The Aviary. The learning journey is a collaborative book produced with input from home as well as nursery (and sometimes other settings) and will be yours to keep at the end of your child’s journey here with us.
The key carer will help plan your child’s next steps at each stage of development. This could include things like planning and organising different activities and play opportunities that will encourage them to develop in a specific area.
Observations will be emailed at least every two months throughout the year and will be part of the final Learning Journal.
We collate the information about children’s progress throughout the year to ensure we are offering the right opportunities for children to develop and grow.
Aviary staff
Our staff are qualified to level three or above and have a range of experience in looking after children of different ages and stages of development. As a nursery, we have four in-house training days each year to ensure staff professional development is kept up to date.
If you are qualified and have experience, and are interested in working for us, please contact the Nursery Manager on 023 8065 3390 or [email protected].
