We would always recommend that the child or young person's education setting knows that you want to make this request. We will contact the education setting to ask about the child or young person's needs and support. The assessment process is most effective if it is done jointly with your family and the education setting.

The request for an assessment can be made any time after a child’s birth but as soon as the child is in education, the setting must be involved.
