Specialist Teacher Advisory Service (STAS)
Empowering children and young people to achieve
The Specialist Teacher Advisory Service (STAS) is a specialist multi-disciplinary team, who aim to share expertise by working in partnership with families, children or young people and educational staff. STAs aim to build capacity, act as advocates and promote quality provision and inclusion in all educational settings.
Children and young people are supported, and empowered, to achieve throughout their learning journey and be well prepared for adulthood.
We support children and young people who are deaf or have hearing loss, have a vision impairment or physical disability, or have speech, language, communication and interaction needs.
Our team is made up of experienced teachers and other professionals with qualifications in their relevant specialisms. Once we receive a referral we will assess and support your child based on their level of need.
STAS can offer support to schools, parents or other professionals by phone, Teams meeting, or email. If you would like a consultation with a member of the service, please either email the STAS professional who is currently supporting your child or contact the relevant lead:
- STAS Service Manager: Sarah Easley
- Communication and Interaction: Louisa Gray
- Physical Disability/Assistive Technology: Caroline Willoughby
- Sensory Impairment (Hearing or Vision): Donna Irving
STAS is a term-time only service.
