Totton Area Men’s Shed

What is it?

Plans are in place to build a workshop with nine workstations for woodwork, metalwork, repairs, computer skills and model making.

What they’re doing?

Members have made bird boxes, bug hotels and other crafts. They’ve donated old tools which we sell each month at a local car-boot.

What is it?

What is it?

On The Move, Hampshire Cultural Trust

What is it?

On The Move is a Hampshire Cultural Trust project, funded by Esmee Fairbairn Collections fund, for men interested in historic vehicles who want to share this interest with others.

Meeting up, online and in person, to investigate a collection of historic vehicles through research and hands on activities to bring the stories associated with the objects to life.

Worthy’s Community Shed

What is it?

A purpose-built workshop where members meet to work together on individual or joint projects. Plus indoor and outdoor space to get to know each other over a mug of tea.

We make, we mend, we repair, we restore; especially for items provided by the Worthy’s community. Mowers, benches, gazebos, flagpoles, whatever comes our way. We share skills and learn together.

Fareham Men’s Shed

What is it?

Retired men sometimes find they miss the comradeship and sense of purpose that their work provided. A Men's Shed is a place for sharing skills, helping others with practical tasks, or just getting together for a cup of tea and a chat, or a game.

What they’re doing?

We have a well-equipped workshop with lathes, sawbenches and hand tools, plus a social area with computers, games and refreshments. Our members come from all walks of life and have expertise in wood and metalworking, engineering, computing and much more.

What is it?

Shed-in-a-bus

What is it?

Shed-in-a-Bus is a Men’s Shed built into a double decker bus. It will visit communities and be the Shed for the community for typically one afternoon or morning each week. (This is similar to a mobile library, which provides library facilities to communities that don’t have fixed librarys.) In doing so, we hope that Shed-in-a-Bus will help new Sheds get established by demonstrating the need and helping them to secure fixed premises.

Karate Breakfast Club

What is it?

A group offering the opportunity to get up early and de-stress from the week and train with likeminded men in Shotokan Karate.

What they’re doing?

The group meet on Saturdays and train together on drill work and karate technique. Elements of the class are captured digitally. The footage is then played back and discussed over breakfast prepared by the group.
