The Lord-Lieutenant is Her Majesty The Queen’s representative in the county, responsible for arranging and attending Royal Visits to Hampshire

The Lord-Lieutenant is appointed by HM The Queen to be her personal representative in Hampshire. This involves upholding the dignity of the Crown and being the chief link between the Sovereign and her people in the county. This is supported by the Vice Lord-Lieutenant and a team of Deputy Lieutenants.

Duties

The Lord-Lieutenant, Vice-Lieutenant and Deputy Lieutenants organise, host and attend a wide range of events.

  • arranging Royal visits to the county
  • celebrating the achievements of the people of Hampshire and their services to others
  • giving recognition to businesses, voluntary service, faith groups and charitable organisations
  • supporting the Armed Services

Hampshire Lieutenancy Office

In Hampshire the role of the Clerk to the Lieutenancy is carried out by the Chief Executive of the County Council.

Support to the Lieutenancy is provided by a Lieutenancy Officer and PA to the Lieutenancy.
