A Winter Wander with The Snowman™ and The Snowdog

Who’s excited about the winter holidays? We are delighted to say that we’ve got some festive fun for all the family!

Join us for our enchanting Winter Wander with The Snowman™ and The Snowdog around three of Hampshire’s spectacular country parks. With themes of friendship and imagination, The Snowman™ and The Snowdog is the perfect festive tale to explore with family and friends. Inspired by the hit sequel to Raymond Briggs’ much-loved classic, this wintry adventure is suitable for children aged 3 upwards.

What:

The Winter Wander activity trail follows the heart-warming story of The Snowman™ and The Snowdog. Trail packs cost £7 and include a 12-page activity guide and crayon, a voucher for a winter-warming babyccino and a special The Snowman™ and The Snowdog gift. You can even make a day of it with our delicious onsite catering offers!

Plus, all trail customers are invited to catch a screening of the film either before or after completing the trail! Watch as this magical story comes alive, a splendid way to warm up inside after completing the trail.

When:

Opening on Saturday 26th November and running until Monday 2 January, this is a family day out you don’t want to miss! For park opening times see each website  for more details.

To book your tickets, head to our website. Don’t miss out! See the information about each country park. Parks are free to enter but parking charges apply. Collect your trail pack for your little one at the visitor centre.

Where:

The Winter Wander trail will take place around Lepe Country Park, Royal Victoria Country Park and Queen Elizabeth Country Park.

Royal Victoria Country Park:

Enjoy the festive fun at Royal Victoria Country Park located in Netley, by the shores of Southampton.

To keep the little ones entertained there’s also a playground with wheelchair-accessible play equipment. In case they get muddy around the park, they’ve got changing facilities on site too!

Tuck into delicious handmade pizzas at the Cedar Rooms, a brand-new restaurant with a traditional style pizza oven alongside ice-creams and other refreshments.

Lepe Country Park:

Get involved in the enchanting trail at Lepe Country Park located in the beautiful New Forest National Park, near Exbury. The activity trail will take place along Lepe’s pine-fringed cliff top with spectacular views of the Solent and wildflower meadows.

Why not explore the Sensory Cottage Garden after a screening of The Snowman™ and The Snowdog film. Use different senses such as sight, smell and sound in a tranquil setting, accessible to all. This features a bug hotel, a pond and a wildflower garden!

Get cosy in Lepe Lookout and enjoy a fantastic range of fresh, local and sustainable produce whilst enjoying panoramic views of The Solent.

Queen Elizabeth Country Park:

Explore the magical trail at Queen Elizabeth Country Park, located in the South Downs National Park.

Dachshund through the snow and bring your pup along to the trail! All dogs are welcome on the Winter Wander trail at Queen Elizabeth Country Park. Please be mindful of other park visitors.

Come and relax at the Beechwood kitchen and enjoy homemade, locally sourced food and drinks, including snacks, cakes and a range of hot drinks.

Why:

Activity trails are a great way to engage children,  with stimulating activities for all abilities. There is no better way to build sensory awareness than by immersing yourself in the sights, sounds, textures and smells of the great outdoors. Regardless of age, everyone can enjoy  the great outdoors and connect with nature, and you  might even spot some wildlife on the way! A Winter Wander with The Snowman™ and The Snowdog is also a great way to encourage reading practice. Listen to the audiobook on your way home or borrow the book in your local library.

What to wear:

This trail is based outdoors, so please prepare for the British weather! Wrap up warm with plenty of layers and wear suitable footwear that you don’t mind getting a little muddy for this outdoor trail. Terrain can be uneven at some of our parks.
