Patrons of Hillier Gardens

Message from our Patrons

Having worked for Sir Harold Hillier as a Curator in the 1960s and 70s and shared his passion for the world of plants, especially the ‘woodies’ I believe that, were he to return today, he would be thrilled to see how much the Gardens have grown and his beloved collections cared for and enriched with new and exciting introductions. Likewise, the many visitors, young and old who now enjoy and learn from the Gardens would surely warm the cockles of his heart

Roy Lancaster VMH, CBE

Sir Harold Hillier left a unique and wonderful legacy to Hampshire County Council. That was in 1977 and we are fortunate that since then, his marvellous plant collections has been developed, managed and added to so well... I always enjoy my visits to the Gardens, exploring this wonderful collection of plants and trees, both large and small, and I hope all visitors will feel the same as I do. I am honoured to be the patron of this great Hampshire asset
