As March marked the five-year anniversary of the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, we pause to reflect. During this period, the importance of green spaces for physical and mental health was recognised. By paying attention to plants, trees, and the sounds of nature around us, we can feel calmer and more grounded. We wanted to dedicate a space to remember our Gardens friends lost to COVID-19.
This led to the launch of the ‘Reflection Pond Appeal’ which was generously supported by many of you.
Thanks to your contributions, in 2022 we were able to improve pathways, repair essential pond works to the collapsing pond edges, and most notably, add additional seating by constructing a bespoke boat house shelter. The 3-sided structure is made of green Oak and a Cedar shingle roof offering lovely views of the pond.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to those who have kindly supported this project. We hope many of you have found this space to be a source of comfort and reflection.
