This creative workshop will introduce you to the wonderful world of calligraphy. Learn how to use a nib and ink to write in beautiful lettering.

We will start with an introduction to letterforms and gain an understanding of the principles of how to use a broad edged nib. With lots of demonstrations and warm up exercises you’ll be writing letters and words in no time.

You will also have the opportunity to have a go at using coloured and gold gouache in the nib. There will also be an exercise on how to layout a quotation.

This workshop is suitable for absolute beginners as well as intermediates.

Equipment and materials are included are an exemplar, guideline sheets, worksheets, pen holder, nib and pot of ink to take home with you so that you can continue your practice following the workshop. The tutor will also provide a drawing board for use during the workshop but please bring your own if you have one.

Please bring a pencil, ruler, scissors and a full roll of kitchen towel for propping up your board.

It is important to let the tutor know in advance if you are left handed!
