Multi-Activity Instructor Training with Hampshire Outdoor Centres

Our Multi-Activity Instructor Training course offers 10 weeks of intensive tuition to gain ten nationally recognised qualifications, allowing you to develop the skills you need to start your career as an Activity Instructor. We offer high quality training in a fun and friendly environment on the edge of the Solent, in the New Forest and also in the Brecon Beacons.

As well as gaining qualifications and experience, we’ll give you the chance to interview for a job at one of our centres upon completion of the course.

In 2019 all candidates who completed the course were employed with Hampshire Outdoor Centres.

2020 course

Our 2020 course is open for booking. It will run Monday to Friday, 9.00am - 5.30pm, from 20 January 2020 to 27 March 2020.

We’ll loan you all the specialist equipment you need. Plus, you’ll have free use of our facilities and equipment once we’ve assessed your basic competence. This way you can brush up on your skills at weekends or evenings for no extra cost.

Better still, as soon as the course is confirmed, you’ll have free access to all the courses we run at Calshot. Meaning you can get a head start and gain lots of experience before you join us in January.

You will be based at Calshot Activities Centre for the majority of the course, however some aspects will run from other Hampshire Outdoor Centres including visiting our centre in Wales!


10 week instructor training: £2995.00*
Food and accommodation †: £495.00

*Excludes registration and other fees for governing bodies. These will be around £200 in total.

† Accommodation is available at an additional cost for the duration of the course which includes accommodation seven days a week with full board when at Calshot (approx. 7 weeks) and self catering when at other Hampshire Outdoor Centres.

*(subject to achieving satisfactory standards and completion of training courses as determined by governing bodies or organisation)

What else will I receive?

You’ll also receive additional training and the opportunity for in-house assessments in the following activities: archery, climbing, high ropes, initiative course and team building tasks, low ropes, orienteering, skiing, snowboarding and track cycling.
