COVID-19 safety at Calshot

Essential safety measures

If at any point in the last two weeks prior to the visiting the facility, if you (or any other member of the party) are exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, or any other person in your (or any other member of the parties) household or support bubble is currently self-isolating due to COVID-19, you must not visit the facility.

Calshot has additional hygiene controls in place to reduce the transmission of COVID-19. You accept that, by the nature of the virus, it is not possible to eliminate the risk of COVID-19 entirely and that you consent to taking part or to your child taking part.

Please scan our unique NHS COVID-19 QR code when you enter The Hangar or at the climbing wall kiosk to register your visit to the centre directly with the NHS. This does not eliminate the need to check in at your activity. If you not booked online for an activity you will still be asked to provide details for track and trace purposes.

Hand washing and sanitising facilities are available on site and it is your responsibility to ensure that you wash your hands before and after visiting. It is also important to ensure hands are washed before and after handling any activity equipment or eating food.

You and/or your child agree to abide by social distancing as per current Government guidance, whilst visiting or taking part in activities at Calshot Activities Centre.

Face coverings must be always worn within the hangar facilities. We also ask that they remain on during your activity. Unless medically exempt or under 11.

Staff are maintaining social distancing and good hygiene procedures. Please understand that staff may need to break social distancing guidance to provide support, first aid or rescue.

Our instructor led experiences and courses are restarting, for these social distancing is paramount. We request all participants follow the session structure, where adequate space is provided to ensure social distancing is maintained.

Ringos, Take off and Aerotrek

Please note that capacity in the hangar is reduced and, on this basis, please bring one parent/guardian per booking.

If you booked online, go to the slope to check in with your instructor, please have your confirmation email to hand.
There may be spaces for walk up customers, please enquire at the climbing wall kiosk.

Parents/guardians must supervise their children during the session to help ensure social distancing. For smaller/younger children, this may involve/require closer supervision at the top of the slope and helping to pull the Ringo up the slope.

Take off and Aerotrek

If you booked online, go to the meeting points area to check in with your instructor, please have your confirmation email to hand.

Parents/guardians must remain to supervise their children (if under 16 years of age) during the session to help ensure social distancing. This will involve assisting your child with their harness and clipping your child in. An instructor will still take responsibility for the running and safety of the session.

The ski slope

We have limited capacity within the hangar, store area and spectator seating. Please follow directions from our staff, you may need to queue before you go to the ski store. We request you consider the number of spectators you bring with you. At present snowboard courses are not running.

Face coverings must be worn inside the hangar space and ski store. We also ask that they remain on during the activity unless you feel wearing a face covering will have a negative impact on your ability to undertake the activity or communicate with others.

Please allow for a constant flow of movement during the slope session - don't wait at the top or congregate at the bottom.

The Wall
  • Consider planning to arrive at non-peak times - Thursday evenings and Sundays are busy at the wall due to our climbing clubs running.
  • We politely request that all climbers stay no longer than three hours.
  • If we reach capacity, we will manage the three-hour climbing time and implement a queueing system accordingly.
  • Hire of equipment is limited please arrive with what you need.
  • We recommend you keep in touch via our Facebook group
  • Consider that you might be out of climbing practice!

Buddy checks

Remember to complete buddy checks before climbing. Buddy checks can be made with this social distancing guidance:

  • Show your partner your knot so they can visually check it
  • Squeeze test all karabiners whilst your partner is watching
  • Communicate effectively and only start climbing once all checks complete
The cycle track

The spectator stands for the track are now open for use.

If you are attending a track course run by Calshot please respect social distancing and be mindful of others when waiting for your course in the hangar. If you are attending a session run by an external club you may be asked to wait in your car until just before your track time.
