Climbing clubs for young people
Our climbing clubs are perfect for young people starting out in the sport, as well as those looking to improve their climbing and safety skills. The clubs follow a series of stages, providing structured development in a safe and enjoyable environment, helping young people to become independent and safe climbers for life.
Our clubs are split into three age groups. Each club has an experience session so your child can try roped climbing before deciding to join our climbing clubs. Experienced and/or confident climbers who have climbed elsewhere may be able to join the clubs without completing an experience session. Please contact the centre to discuss this option.
Rock Hoppers
Rockhoppers club involves lots of games and challenges to keep your child engaged. Sessions start on our traversing and bouldering walls, before moving on to our auto belays*, where your child can learn to climb taller routes.
Club sessions run every Sunday from 3.45pm to 4.45pm. Sessions are payable quarterly in advance. Please email [email protected] to find out more or join our waiting list.
Club sessions are £12 each if paid in advance by direct debit, and £14 each if paid quarterly.
Rockhoppers experience
This session will give participants a gentle introduction to climbing, aiming to familiarise children with equipment and encourage confidence on the wall.
Once completed, your child can join and become a club member.

Barnacles
These sessions give participants a chance to practice roped climbing, climbing games and bouldering.
They’ll learn the basics of how to belay for one another and the important safety procedures needed to make climbing safe.
Every three weeks, club members can work towards our Barnacles climbing and safety certificates, helping children to develop their ability and confidence on the wall.
