This course is designed to introduce PGCE trainee teachers to the benefits of high quality Outdoor Education delivered within the residential context.

The programme will focus on the benefits of outdoor and adventurous activities for young people and how it fits into a school’s curriculum. By participating in many of the exciting and challenging activities, trainee teachers will develop the confidence to justify the inclusion of outdoor activities in their own school curriculum.

The programme also explores a broad range of educational philosophy, theory and practice at post graduate level, which will develop confidence in applying teaching strategies and methods used in delivering outdoor education. A key element of the programme will be in identifying appropriate outdoor activity locations and planning a safe visit.
