Primary education programme at The Hampshire & Cass Foundation Mountain Centre

St Martins Academy climbing through cave

Students from St. Martins Academy in London attend the Centre each year supported by the Cass Foundation. The aims are focussed on a five day Outdoor adventure, residential course, designed to bring the students and staff together.

They develop tolerance for others through completing several challenging journeys together each day using the local mountains, caves & rivers. These shared experiences develop life skills that are transferable on return home and to school. The relationships between pupils are strengthened, with new friendships being an important outcome for students. In addition, the positive working relationships between staff and pupils are changed permanently for the better and this one of the most important outcomes for staff.

The learning and achievements each day are celebrated and recognised through targeted reviews. In addition this process allows for the setting of personal development and team goals to be achieved throughout the week and beyond.
