Year 7 students from Twyford School, near Winchester, visit Calshot Activities Centre for a week long residential as part of their Common Entrance Geography syllabus. Their visit begins with fieldwork on the River Lymington, investigating how the river changes along its course. Students work in small teams to measure a range of variables and then use this data to perform statistical analysis. Students then write a short report on their findings. Many schools also take part in a range of land and water-based activities to give students a break from the academic work. This may include kayaking, sailing, skiing and climbing.
