Financial assistance to attend an outdoor centre
A small fund is available to provide financial assistance to children to help fund a visit to our outdoor centres
The fund is only open to children attending Hampshire County Council schools. Funding covers a visit to the following outdoor centres:
- Calshot Activities Centre
- Tile Barn Outdoor Centre
- Runways End Outdoor Centre
- Hampshire Mountain Centre in south Wales
- About the funding
From 1 April 2019 to 31 March 2020, 20% of the cost of a child attending an outdoor centre can be supported.
Please note that:
- funding is available for residential and non-residential visits
- only costs directly charged by the centre can be supported
- transport costs to and from the centre are not covered
- funding only covers tuition, activities, and excursions provided by the centre
Calshot Activities Centre has one single charge including accommodation, tuition, board, and food costs.
Tile Barn Outdoor Centre, Hampshire Mountain Centre and Runways End Outdoor Centre charge separately for accommodation and tuition so please add these together.
An element of the food cost for the young person may also be included. If the Mountain Centre provides centre transport for you, this may also be included.
To apply for funding complete the application form below. If approved, an email acknowledging your application will be sent to you, and the agreed financial assistance transferred to your school via the IBC.
If you have any questions regarding the financial assistance or the application process please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
- The application process
The application for funding is made by the child's school. Parents and carers should speak to their child’s school to start the application process.
The process relies on the professional judgement of school staff about the child's home background, and the family's ability to fund a planned curriculum visit.
The fund is not large so please consider this when identifying students who may be eligible.
Please apply at least 8 weeks before the visit. It is not possible to fund a visit after it has taken place.
