  • Calshot Activities Centre
  • Tile Barn Outdoor Centre
  • Runways End Outdoor Centre
  • Argoed Lwyd Outdoor Education Centre
Children canoeing

About the fund

Hampshire Outdoor Centres are pleased to be able to continue providing financial assistance for visits until 31 March 2023. If your visit takes place after this time, please contact us in early 2023 to confirm the availability of future funding.

Hampshire Outdoor Centres appreciate the financial constraints Local Authority schools are under. We are pleased that we can still support our mission to deliver outdoor education programmes which enhance a young person’s personal, social and academic development through a journey of challenge, adventure and self discovery.

This year, the amount of Financial Assistance Hampshire Outdoor Centres contribute will primarily be linked to students in receipt of Pupil Premium. We will support these students with up to 10% additional contribution from the Young Person fund, subject to demand of this fund.

We also understand that, particularly in these difficult times, there will be students who do not attract Pupil Premium but who, without financial support, may not be able to come to one of Hampshire Outdoor Centres.

We are keen to support these students, upon receipt of an email from the Headteacher of the school with details of the reason for applying, how many children you are applying for, the Centre you are visiting and the overall cost of the visit per student. No student names should be given in the email. Approval of any financial assistance will be at the discretion of the Head of Hampshire Outdoor Centres.

The application process

The application or email for financial assistance must be made by the student’s school. Parents and carers should speak to their child’s school if they require financial assistance.

The fund is not large so please consider this when identifying students who may be eligible. We rely on the professional judgement of school staff about the child's home background, and the family's ability to fund a planned curriculum visit before applying.

Please apply at least 8 weeks before the visit. It is not possible to fund a visit after it has taken place. Please note that:

  • funding is available for residential and non-residential visits
  • only costs directly charged by the centre (accommodation, catering, excursions, tuition and activities) can be supported
  • transport costs to and from the centre are not covered

For students who are in receipt of Pupil Premium, please complete the application form below.

For non-Pupil Premium financial assistance requests, please email

If approved, an email acknowledging your application will be sent to you, and the agreed financial assistance transferred to your school via the IBC.
