The Royal Victoria Military Hospital at Netley treated over 50,000 casualties of WW1, with both the main hospital building and Red Cross auxiliary hospitals full to capacity for much of the war.
In this interactive session, students will learn about:
- Conditions in the trenches and how soldiers were injured in WW1
- The medical evacuation route from the battlefield to hospitals like Netley
- Conditions and treatments at the Royal Victoria Hospital and Red Cross hospitals
- The stories of some individual patients of the hospital in WW1
This session can be adapted as an outreach activity if you are unable to timetable a visit to the Park.
