Book a group visit to Royal Victoria Chapel

We look forward to welcoming your group to the Royal Victoria Chapel. Take a few minutes to read this information to ensure you make the most of your visit.

All groups must book in advance. We recommend booking early to avoid disappointment.

We encourage large groups to make visits on a Monday or Tuesday, when the Chapel is closed to the general public, but other days can be arranged.

Terms and conditions

Group sizes

Our workshop sessions can accommodate up to 35 students.

Tower visits are for a maximum of 20 students at a time.

Larger groups will need to plan a carousel of activities (such as visiting the exhibitions, guided walk or activity trail). For groups of more than 60 students this will need to include an outdoor element due to space restrictions in the Chapel.

Teacher to student ratios

We ask you to ensure your student/teacher ratio meets our safety policy requirements.

  • Foundation stage or KS1: 1 adult to every 6 students
  • KS2: 1 adult to every 10 students (1:7 if visit will include a Tower tour)
  • Secondary school visits: 1 adult to every 15 students (1:10 if visit will include a Tower tour)
  • College or university visits: 1 adult must accompany the group
Pre-visit

A pre-visit is recommended and can be provided for up to two teachers per school. During this time, you can visit the exhibitions in the Chapel and talk to one of the education team about the workshop you have booked and any specific needs of children in your group.

Risk assessment

Our Risk Assessment Guidelines for educational groups are intended to help you prepare for your visit. This document contains information on the general assessment of risk for both indoor and outdoor activities on the site, however it is not valid as a risk assessment in itself. We recommend that teachers make a free pre-visit to write your own risk assessment, as well as to discuss your activities and the specific needs of your group.
