Book a visit to the Royal Victoria Chapel for our ‘Hospitals then and now’ session and get additional resources to support a thematic study of hospitals and hospital treatments from medieval times to the present day.
In the session, pupils will use historical artefacts, pictures and documents to learn why Florence Nightingale was critical of the military hospital built at Netley in Victorian times, how the hospital treated soldiers wounded in WW1 and the impact on Netley of the D-Day landings in WW2. Our Local History Study package includes a visit to the Royal Victoria Chapel exhibitions and Tower tour, workshop and activity pack with lesson plans and resources to support a thematic study of hospitals in school.
