Latest Update - Essential Works
Overnight Closure

We are nearing completion on the work to repair the landslip on the embankment at A334 Charles Watts Way. We are planning a return to two-way running on the A334 on Friday 7 June. This will involve closing the road on the evening of Thursday 6 June to remove the temporary barrier and restore the original road markings.

The closure is expected to be in place on Thursday 6 June from 7:30pm through to 6am on Friday 7 June, during this time a diversion will be in place.  Please see the diversion route plan (Microsoft Sway document) and you can also view online at One.Network.

In the meantime the current one-way arrangement will continue, with the eastbound lane closed. You may observe some minor adjustments to the temporary road layout during this time as we also upgrade the vehicle restraint systems in the area, but the westbound lane will remain open throughout. Please find the diversion route plans (Microsoft Sway document) for non-motorway and motorway traffic.  We apologise in advance for the inconvenience, this unavoidable work cannot be delayed. Please allow more time for your journey.

Over the next 12 months there will be further works on the A334 to mitigate the long-term risk of this happening again elsewhere. As part of these works there will be further traffic restrictions required, however, these are still to be determined and will be confirmed nearer the time
