Scheme overview

Hampshire County Council has progressed the design for implementation of improvements to New Road, Swanmore, consisting of traffic calming measures and pedestrian crossing improvements.  Making it safer and pleasant for all those that travel along New Road.

The improvements will consist of;

  • An uncontrolled crossing point on New Road, opposite The Lakes;
  • An uncontrolled crossing point at the junction of New Road and Spring Vale;
  • Two sets of build outs (a form of traffic calming, involving the narrowing of the road) along New Road.
Funding Arrangements
Funding for the transport capital delivery schemes is separate from the County Council’s revenue budget and savings proposals. In the majority of cases funding comes from external grants and / or Section 106 contribution from developers. This funding usually has conditions that strictly control on how, where and when it can be spent.
