Vicarage Hill traffic management, Hartley Wintney

Last update: April 2019

Scheme overview

Hampshire County Council has appointed Colas Ltd to undertake the works. The improvement scheme will lead to a reduction in traffic on this particular road, as it will be a no-through route, permanently closing the northern end (Fleet Road) of Vicarage Hill. It will involve a construction of a turnaround point for vehicles and some minor landscaping.

It consists of the following elements:

  • Excavation of existing carriageway and allotments area for the construction of the turnaround area.
  • Installation of a new section of kerb along Fleet Road to close off Vicarage Hill.
  • Installation of a manhole in the south east corner of the turnaround point.
  • Construction of the new turnaround area.
  • Construction of a footpath section.
  • Soft landscaping works (hedges, planting etc).
  • Other improvements; surfacing and kerbing works on Vicarage Hill.

Whilst Vicarage Hill is under construction, there will be a road closure with access only for residents and restricted parking. There will also be in operation three-way traffic lights for a short period of time.

Works completed with some remedial works and planting.
