Hampshire County Council has appointed Colas Limited to carry out a package of improvement works within Whitchurch. These works will be carried out in three phases. The first phase of works will commence on 7 February 2022 and completed by early autumn 2022.

The works will take place Monday to Friday. The construction dates and  working hours vary according to the site location which can be viewed in this plan.

Please note that the works are weather dependent and may need to be re-arranged at short notice in the event of adverse weather. Should this happen, I will contact you again to advise of the revised date.


Hampshire County Council has appointed Rocon Contractors to carry out the second phase of improvement works within Whitchurch.  The second phase of works will commence on 28 February 2022 and expected completion end of July 2022. 

To facilitate the works two-way temporary traffic lights and narrow lane closures will be required to provide safe working space for the workforce. The working hours will be 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday.

Scheme overview

Hampshire County Council have been working closely with Whitchurch Town Council and will be implementing improvements across 10 sites in Whitchurch.  Please view the site location plans and the associated technical plans.

The objectives/benefits of the scheme:

  • Improve pedestrian facilities from residential area to local schools; 
  • Improve cycle access across the town centre;
  • Enhance pedestrian safety for existing crossing points with signage and road markings;
  • Improve the A34 Tufton junction with additional traffic management.

Approval to progress this revised scheme was given at the Executive Member for Environment and Transport Decision Day 23 September 2021.
