Winchester Road, Andover
Provide dropped kerbs and minor re-profiling of footway
Last update: December 2021
- Latest updates
Hampshire County Council, in partnership with Test Valley Borough Council, has appointed Rocon Contractors Ltd to carry out the footway improvements works.
Due to emergency gas works that took place on Winchester Road between 21 October and 5 November 2021, which required our footway improvement works to be put on hold and our contractors to leave site, we have a new revised completion date of 21 January 2022.
To minimise disruption the works will temporarily cease and traffic management will be removed from the area on 20 December 2021 and will resume in the first week of January (after the bank holiday on 3 January2021).
Once works resume after the new year, the working hours will be between 7:30am and 4:00pm. To maximise safety, 24-hour two-way temporary traffic signals will be in operation. The works will be moving to the western side of Winchester Road on Thursday 25 November.
- Scheme overview
To improve accessibility and safety on the Winchester Road corridor, this scheme will comprise of the following;
- Widening the existing footway to a width of 1.8 metres along Winchester Road between the junctions of Croft Avenue and Humberstone Road;
- Providing dropped kerbs and minor re-profiling of footway to make more suitable for mobility scooter users (between Ashlawn Gardens and Old Winton Road) by providing increased safety for pedestrians, particularly vulnerable road users.
