Waste and Resource Management
Hampshire County Council is the Waste Disposal Authority (WDA) for Hampshire. The Waste and Resource Management team have a variety of tasks to perform to fulfil the Council's obligations, including:
managing Hampshire’s household waste
providing Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs)
managing historic landfill sites.
A key priority for Hampshire County Council as a Waste Disposal Authority is to reduce reliance on landfill for the disposal of waste. Already Hampshire is topping the national table in this arena with 85% of all household waste currently diverted from landfill, by either recycling or recovering energy through a process known as energy recovery incineration.
