Flags have been lowered to half-mast at the County Council’s headquarters buildings in Winchester as a mark of respect.
Her decades of public service and quiet compassion earned the admiration of many across the country.
Paying tribute, Leader of Hampshire County Council, Councillor Nick Adams-King, said: “On behalf of Hampshire County Council, I extend our sincere condolences to His Majesty The King and the Royal Family.
“The Duchess of Kent will be remembered for her grace, humility and unwavering dedication to charitable causes and education. Her contribution to public life was deeply valued and her legacy will continue to inspire.”
