Whether you’re thinking about it for the first time or have tried before, you’re not alone – support is available. In fact, people are three times more likely to quit successfully with help than by doing it on their own. That makes now a great time to reach out. Smokefree Hampshire, funded by the County Council, provides free, personalised help to anyone who lives or works in Hampshire.
Alex who quit smoking with support from the programme shared, “My chest feels lighter. I’ve saved money. No morning coughs and just a better outlook on life because of it all. Amazing! I’m now completely smokefree.”
Simon Bryant, Director of Public Health for Hampshire, said: "We know that quitting smoking can be one of the hardest things a person ever does. It’s not just about willpower, it’s about having the right support, at the right time. That’s why we’re proud of the free support from Smokefree Hampshire – with experts who understand the challenges and offer compassionate, practical help that really works.”
Residents can self-refer by texting QUIT to 80011 or visiting the website smokefreehampshire.co.uk. The service also provides tailored support for young people, pregnant women, and those with mental health conditions.
Hampshire County Council remains committed to becoming a smokefree county by 2030, with significant investment in prevention and stop smoking services to improve public health and reduce smoking rates.
