Plans for a brand-new primary school to the east of Fleet have taken a further step forward today

Jan 21 2026

Councillor Roz Chadd, Hampshire County Council’s Cabinet Lead Member for Children’s Services, has today approved the £14.4 million budget that will deliver a new school serving the Hartland Village housing developmentDue to open in September 2027, Hartland Village Primary School will provide up to 420 places for children aged four to 11. It is being funded largely by contributions from the housing developer, which is set to deliver 1,500 new homes in the Hartland community.

Councillor Chadd commented: “Last year we were delighted to open three brand-new primary schools each serving major housing developments across the county. Iam now excited to approve the spend for Hartland Village Primary School, which marks another important milestone in our ongoing rollout of new school places to meet rising demand in areas of significant growth. This ensures that families across Hampshire continue to have access to high-quality, local schools and instils a sense of place and pride in new and growing communities. I know that my colleague Councillor Forster, Cabinet Member for Education and a resident of Fleet himself, is greatly in support of the project and like me, will be eagerly following its progress over the coming year.”

The school will provide state-of-the-art facilities and a nurturing environment for pupils, ensuring they receive a high-quality education. Designed to be all-electric, the proposed two-storey site will include 14 classrooms, a hall, studio, library, external play areas and playing fields. Other green credentials will include the use of solar panels on the school’s roof, and a timber-frame constructed from sustainable sources, helping to reduce the building’s overall carbon footprint.

Morgan Sindall has been appointed by Hampshire County Council as the principal contractor responsible for delivering the school build, with work due to start on site in late spring. It follows planning approval which was granted in February 2025.

The Circle Trust has been appointed to run and manage the school as an academy.

Hartland Village Primary School is part of Hampshire County Council's £632 million capital programme for Children’s Services, an exciting three-year programme of investment in schools, social care, family hubs, and other projects. The programme received provisional sign off today from Councillor Chadd and seeks to ensure that wherever possible, funding for approved projects is drawn from external sources including contributions from developers and central Government.
