Special needs support takes to the road with new ‘Local Offer Discovery Days’

Parents of children with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND) are being invited to find out more about SEND support in Hampshire through a series of in-person events running this spring

Mar 16 2026

Hampshire County Council will be delivering a roadshow of events across the county, encouraging families to come and discover their Local Offer which sets out the services and support available to children with SEND and those who care for them. These ‘Discovery Days’ will offer a welcoming, relaxed environment where families can speak directly with professionals from key SEND services across education, health, social care, and the community and voluntary sector. They will provide an opportunity to access general support and advice, take part in workshops, share feedback, and hear about new or upcoming support offers.

Councillor Roz Chadd, Cabinet Lead Member for Children’s Services, said: “Like all parents, we know that every parent caring for a child with SEND simply wants the best for their child. While there is a wide range of support on offer, we also know that navigating this system can sometimes feel confusing and overwhelming. That’s why we’re bringing our Local Offer directly to families in their local communities, where they can explore these services in more detail with professionals on hand to answer any questions they may have. It’s also a key opportunity for services to come together, strengthening how they work in partnership to support children and families.

“If you care for a child with SEND, I strongly encourage you to look at our schedule of upcoming events and to visit a Discovery Day near you.”
