The honour was conferred at a special meeting of the County Council on 1 October, recognising 28 former County Councillors, including a large number of long-standing Members those who retired at the 2026 elections after many years of commitment to serving their local communities.
The title of Honorary Alderman is made to recognise the eminent and lengthy service of former County Councillors who are no longer elected Members of the Council.
Paying tribute, Leader of Hampshire County Council, Councillor Nick Adams-King said: "It is a privilege to recognise these former colleagues with the title of Honorary Alderman. Over many years, each has played an important part in shaping Hampshire County Council and the services it provides to the people of Hampshire.
"This roll call of names represents an extraordinary breadth of experience and commitment to public service. Together these Honorary Aldermen have dedicated almost 450 years of service to the people of Hampshire.
