“Don’t face life’s challenges alone” – Hampshire men urged to take one small step for their mental wellbeing this Movember

Movember shines a spotlight on the importance of men’s health and wellbeing. Many men experience challenges with their mental wellbeing at different points in their lives, whether related to stress, relationships, parenthood, work, finances, bereavement or major life changes. Taking small, practical steps, and reaching out for support when needed, can make everyday challenges easier to manage.

Through the Mental Wellbeing Hampshire website, residents can access free resources, practical wellbeing advice, self-help tools and information about local and national support services. Resources include:

  • Guidance on managing stress and anxiety, improving sleep, staying connected to others and building resilience.
  • A dedicated Men’s Mental Wellbeing Toolkit, bringing together conversation starters, NHS self-help resources, crisis support information and local services tailored to men.

Simon Bryant, Director of Public Health, Hampshire County Council, said: “Life can bring challenges for all of us, and many men experience times when they struggle with their mental wellbeing. Movember is a useful reminder to check in with ourselves and with the people around us. Even small actions, such as talking to a friend, getting active or reaching out for support, can have a positive impact. We want men across Hampshire to know that help is available and that they don’t have to face life’s challenges alone.”

Looking after your mental wellbeing doesn’t have to involve major changes. A small step can be as simple as taking time for yourself, reconnecting with someone you trust, getting active or finding out what support is available.
