Prestigious Green Flag status secured for Hampshire County Council’s five country parks

The Green Flag quality mark has once again been awarded to Hampshire County Council’s country parks in recognition of the high standards they offer to visitors

Lepe, River Hamble, Royal Victoria, Queen Elizabeth, and Staunton Country Parks have all secured Green Flag awards. In addition, Staunton, Royal Victoria, and Lepe Country Parks have also retained their Green Heritage Site Accreditation, recognising sites that actively conserve and promote their unique historic features.

The recognition comes as the County Council’s outdoor attractions confirm their participation in the Government’s Great British Summer Savings scheme. All country parks, Sir Harold Hillier Gardens, Calshot Activities Centre, and Calshot Castle will be cutting the prices of children’s meals and admission tickets for the summer period.

Councillor Kirsty North, Hampshire County Council’s Cabinet Lead Member for Universal Services, said: “I’m delighted that our country parks have once again been recognised for their excellent quality. These fantastic parks are welcoming, easy to explore, and packed with things to see and do.

“They offer a great day out for families looking to make special memories this summer, with beautiful surroundings and plenty to keep children entertained. There’s something for everyone to enjoy close to home.

“We know the long summer holidays can be a challenging time for many families, and every pound makes a difference. That’s why we are taking part in the Government’s summer savings scheme, helping us pass on extra discounts so visitors can enjoy even better value. Whether it’s a picnic, a walk, or simply spending time outdoors, these spaces provide affordable ways to relax, explore and make the most of the season.”

The Green Flag Award scheme, run annually by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, sets the benchmark for excellence in green space management across the UK and internationally. It celebrates its 30th year in 2026, and Hampshire’s country parks have been a regular fixture among the sites recognised by the scheme.

The announcement comes during Love Parks Week, a national campaign celebrating the importance of parks and green spaces across the UK.

As part of Great British Summer Savings scheme, between 25 June 2026 and 1 September 2026, the standard VAT rate of 20% drops to 5% on qualifying children’s meals and family tickets.
