Consultation on Hampshire County Council’s Post-16 Transport Policy for 2026/27

From 3 November to 7 December 2025, Hampshire County Council sought residents’ and stakeholders’ views on its proposed Post-16 Transport Policy for the 2026/27 academic year.

The County Council is required by law to prepare and publish its Post-16 Transport Policy every year.

The County Council proposed to make some adjustments to the wording of the Post-16 Policy to make it clearer and easier to understand.

The proposed changes included:

  • Introducing a ‘quick guide’ section to summarise eligibility criteria
  • Making changes to the wording explaining the Appeals process

The County Council did not propose to change the eligibility criteria or the way Post-16 Transport operates as part of this consultation.

The findings of the consultation were published and presented to the Executive Lead Member for Children's Services and Young People and a decision was announced in February 2026.

The Post-16 Transport Policy can be found on the Post-16 Transport page of our website, or you can view the 2026/27 policy document directly.
